These were the uncoloured versions. When compilied for the books, they were coloured.<br /><br />The classic Herge colours and style only evolved in the fifties. Early works (he started in 1931) were very different from current versions. Only after WWII did Herge have the oppertunity to go back and standardised the look and take advantage of colour printing.
